Mr Mister

BIOGRAPHY

William "Bill" George Perri, born on November 5, 1953, is an American musician and producer, best known as the guitarist and founding member of the 1980s pop rock band, Mr. Mister. Perri was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and grew up in Glendale, a suburb of Phoenix. He began playing the guitar at the age of 13. He attended Cortez High School, where he met Richard Page, who would later become the lead singer and bassist of Mr. Mister. After high school, Perri studied music at Arizona State University. In 1981, Perri and Page formed Mr. Mister, along with singer/keyboardist Steve George and drummer Pat Mastelotto. The band's first album, I Wear the Face, was released in 1984. The first single from the album, "Is It Love", had some success, but the second single, "Broken Wings", was a massive hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1986. The band's second album, Welcome to the Real World, was also successful, yielding hits such as "Kyrie" and "Broken Wings". After the release of the album, Mr. Mister went on numerous tours, including a headlining spot on the Amnesty International Conspiracy of Hope tour in 1986. In 1987, the group released its third album, Go On..., which was less successful than its predecessors. The first single from the album, "Something Real (Inside Me/Inside You)", had some success, but the second single, "The Border", did not manage to chart. The third single from the album, "Hunters of the Night", was also a failure. In 1989, Mr. Mister released its fourth and final album, Pull, which was even less successful than Go On.... The first single from the album, "Stand and Deliver", had some success, but the second single, "The Tube", did not manage to chart. The third single from the album, "Sugar", was also a failure. After the release of Pull, Mr. Mister disbanded. Perri went on to produce albums for other artists, including Richard Marx, Belinda Carlisle, and Wilson Phillips. He also toured with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band in 1992 and 1993. In 2006, Perri and Page reunited Mr. Mister for a series of reunion concerts. The band has not released any new music since their reunion.
