BIOGRAPHY

"Dead or Alive is a British new wave band formed in 1980 in Wirral, England, consisting of members Pete Burns (lead vocals) and Wayne Hussey (guitarist), soon joined by Mike Percy (bassist) and Steve Coy (drummer). Their first single, 'So Tough', was released in November 1980 and peaked at number 36 on the UK Singles Chart. Their debut album, 'Sophisticated Boom Boom', was released in May 1984 and peaked at number 4 on the UK Albums Chart. Their second album, 'Youthquake', was released in November 1985 and peaked at number 2 on the UK Albums Chart. The single 'You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)' was released in January 1986 and peaked at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart. The single 'Brand New Lover' was released in August 1986 and peaked at number 3 on the UK Singles Chart. The band experienced some success in North America in the mid-1980s, notably with the single 'Something in My House', which peaked at number 15 on the Canadian Singles Chart. In 1987, the band played at the Woodstock Festival. Their third album, 'Nude', was released in May 1988 and peaked at number 7 on the UK Albums Chart. The band took a more electronic direction with their fourth album, 'Rage Hard', released in August 1986. The single 'Turn Around and Count 2 Ten' was released in November 1986 and peaked at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart. In 1988, the band played at the Glastonbury Festival. The band went through a difficult period in the early 1990s, notably with the death of guitarist Wayne Hussey. Their fifth album, 'Nukleopatra', was released in October 1992 and peaked at number 5 on the UK Albums Chart. The single 'Runaway Train' was released in March 1993 and peaked at number 15 on the UK Singles Chart. The band took a hiatus in the 1990s but reformed in 1998 with a new album, 'Fragile'. The single 'In Too Deep' was released in March 1999 and peaked at number 40 on the UK Singles Chart. The band continued to tour and release albums in the 2000s, including 'Real Life' in 2002 and 'Rip It Up' in 2006. The band embarked on a world tour in 2008 to celebrate their 28th anniversary. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016."
