BIOGRAPHY
Shannon is an American singer born on May 2, 1958, in Houlton, Maine. She grew up in a family of musicians and began her singing career at the age of 15. After studying music at the University of Maine, Shannon became a professional singer in various jazz clubs in Boston. In 1982, she signed a contract with Atlantic Records jazz label and released her first album, "A New Day". She then released two other albums with Atlantic, "The Best of Shannon" (1984) and "Take Another Look" (1986). In 1988, Shannon signed with MCA Records, a pop label, where she released two albums, "Do You Wanna Get Away" (1988) and "Love Goes All the Way" (1990).
In 1991, Shannon was diagnosed with breast cancer. After undergoing a double mastectomy and remission, she released her album "Giving You the Benefit" in 1992, which reached the top of the R&B chart and won a Grammy Award. She then released two other albums, "Love Will Set You Free" (1993) and "My Heart" (1995). Unfortunately, in 1997, Shannon was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time, but thanks to intensive treatment, she was once again in remission. Despite this ordeal, she continued to release music, including the Christmas album "Christmas in the City" in 1999 and the duo album "The Shannon/Brice Project" in 2000.
Over the years, Shannon has had to fight breast cancer several times, but despite everything, she has continued to release successful albums, including "The Best of Shannon" Vol. 2 (2002), "The Shannon/Brice Project" Vol. 2 (2003), "The Best of Shannon" Vol. 3 (2005), "The Shannon/Brice Project" Vol. 3 (2006), "The Best of Shannon" Vol. 4 (2008) and finally "The Shannon/Brice Project" Vol. 4 (2009). Shannon has overcome many challenges and remains an inspiring and talented artist in the music industry.
