Nicky Romero, wiens echte naam Nick Rotteveel van Gotum is, werd geboren op 6 januari 1989 in Nederland. Deze dj en muziekproducent van elektronische muziek begon zijn muzikale carrière in 2007. Sindsdien is hij uitgegroeid tot een iconische figuur in de wereldwijde elektronische muziekscene. Nicky Romero scoorde in 2012 zijn eerste grote hit met zijn single "Toulouse", die de top 10 haalde in veel landen. Hij heeft ook samengewerkt met internationaal bekende muzikanten zoals David Guetta, Calvin Harris en Avicii, met wie hij de single "I Could Be the One" produceerde, die nummer 1 werd in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Romero is ook beroemd om zijn label "Protocol Recordings", dat hij in 2012 oprichtte. Met dit label heeft hij geholpen om de carrière van veel beloftevolle elektronische muzikanten te lanceren en te ondersteunen.
