David Koven is a composer, pianist, and producer of contemporary classical music. Born in Toronto in 1966, Koven studied piano, composition, and film composition at York University. He later continued his musical studies in Europe, studying with György Ligeti and Karlheinz Stockhausen. Koven has composed numerous works for piano, orchestra, chamber music, and vocal ensembles. His works have been performed worldwide and he has received numerous awards and accolades. Koven is also known for his arrangements and transcriptions of classical and popular music, which have been performed by artists such as Lang Lang, Yo-Yo Ma, and the Kronos Quartet. In addition to his career as a composer, Koven is also actively involved in music education, teaching piano, composition, and music history.
