"Midnight Oil is a Australian rock band formed in 1976 in Sydney. It consists of Peter Garrett (vocals, drums), Rob Hirst (drums, vocals), Jim Moginie (guitar, keyboards), Martin Rotsey (guitar), and Bones Hillman (bass). The group experienced limited commercial success in Australia in the 1980s, but achieved international success with their 1987 album, "Diesel and Dust", which reached number one in the UK and was certified double platinum in the United States. Their music is known for political and environmental themes, and they have been involved in various social and environmental causes. The group disbanded in 2002, but announced a reformation tour in 2017."
