Nick Kamen is an English singer and model born on April 15, 1962, in Harlow, Essex. He is known for his songs "I Promised Myself" and "Each Time You Break My Heart," as well as his appearances in Levi's and Calvin Klein advertisements in the 1980s. He also appeared in the 1985 film Madonna: Truth or Dare.
Kamen grew up in a family of musicians and began his musical career playing drums in a 1950s rock and roll band. He was discovered by producer Trevor Horn, who helped him record his first single, "I Promised Myself," in 1985. The single became a hit in Europe, reaching number one in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, and the top 10 in France, Italy, and the Netherlands. Kamen went on to record his first album, Us, in 1986, which was successful in Europe and Japan.
In the 1980s, Kamen became famous for his appearances in Levi's and Calvin Klein advertisements. He also appeared in the 1985 film Madonna: Truth or Dare. In 1991, he released his second album, Move Until We Meet Again, which was not as successful as his first album. Kamen then disappeared from the music scene for many years, only making occasional television and radio appearances. In 2011, he made a comeback with the album Rendezvous, which was well-received by critics.
In 2016, Kamen was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He passed away on May 4, 2018, at the age of 55.
