Lama began his career in the 1960s, performing in various jazz clubs in Bordeaux. In 1968, he released his first album, "Le poète ferait mieux de travailler," which was an immediate success.
Lama is known for his melancholic and introspective songs, often tinged with humor. Some of his greatest hits include "Je suis malade," "Je t'aime," "Le petit homme," and "Un jour, un enfant."
