"USA for Africa was an American supergroup composed of some of the most popular musicians of the 1980s. The group was formed to raise funds for the relief of the 1984-1985 Ethiopian famine. The song they recorded, 'We Are the World,' was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and produced by Quincy Jones. It was released on March 7, 1985 as a single by Columbia Records. The song features the voices of 37 artists, including Jackson, Richie, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan and Ray Charles."
