Andrew Beyer is a contemporary classical music artist. He was born in 1948 in New York, USA. Beyer studied composition with Roger Sessions and Milton Babbitt at Princeton University. He later studied orchestral conducting with Leonard Bernstein at the Aspen Music Festival. Beyer was then a member of the New York Opera Orchestra and assistant conductor of the New York Symphony Orchestra. He subsequently taught composition at Yale University and Princeton University. He has composed numerous works for orchestra, choir, piano, and chamber ensembles. His compositions have been performed by prestigious orchestras such as the New York Symphony Orchestra, the New York Opera Orchestra, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Beyer has also served as musical director of the New York Chamber Orchestra. He currently resides in New York.
