Tobi, also known as Tobias Sammet, is a German singer-songwriter and musician, born on October 3, 1977, in Fulda.
Tobi is the founder and lead vocalist of the power metal band Edguy, with whom he has released nine studio albums since their first album, "Kingdom of Madness", in 1992. He is also the creator and lead singer of the supergroup Avantasia, with whom he has released seven studio albums since their first album, "The Metal Opera", in 2001.
Tobi has also worked as a producer and has been involved in the production of several albums by Edguy, Avantasia, and other artists.
Tobi grew up in Fulda and began playing the guitar at the age of 12. He formed Edguy in 1992 with high school friends Jens Ludwig, Dirk Sauerland, and Dominik Storch. They released their first album, "Kingdom of Madness", the same year.
Edguy has had success with albums such as "Theatre of Salvation" (1999), "Mandrake" (2001), and "Hellfire Club" (2004). In 2007, their album "Superheroes" reached number one on the German charts.
In 2001, Tobi founded the supergroup Avantasia, which has been critically acclaimed and successful commercially with albums such as "The Metal Opera" (2001) and "The Scarecrow" (2008).
In addition to his work with Edguy and Avantasia, Tobi has collaborated as a producer and contributed to the production of several albums by Edguy, Avantasia, and other artists.
Tobi is considered one of the best power metal composers and is respected for his talent as a singer and musician. He has been nominated for numerous awards, including the German Grammy and the Echo.
