Michael Jackson, nicknamed "the king of pop", was born on August 29, 1958 in Gary, Indiana (USA). He was the 8th of 10 children in the Jackson family, who were of modest means. He began his musical career at the age of 6 as part of the family group "The Jackson 5", which achieved international success. Jackson launched his solo career in 1971 while still a member of the group. He achieved massive success with albums such as "Off the Wall" (1979), "Thriller" (1982), "Bad" (1987), "Dangerous" (1991) and "HIStory" (1995). He became an iconic figure in pop music due to his unique style, innovative choreography such as the Moonwalk, and revolutionary use of music videos. Jackson is also known for his drastic physical transformation over time, as well as his tumultuous personal life. Throughout his career, Jackson won numerous awards, including 13 Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. Jackson died of a drug overdose on June 25, 2009, leaving behind an undeniable musical legacy. Despite the controversies surrounding his life, his music continues to touch millions of people around the world.
