"808 State is a British electronic music group, formed in 1987 in Manchester. The original group consisted of Graham Massey (keyboards, bass), Gerald Simpson (keyboards, percussions) and Martin Price (keyboards), who were all students at Hollings College in Manchester. Later, Darren Partington (percussions) and Andrew Barker (percussions) joined the group. The group's first album, Newbuild, was released in 1988. It was followed by the album Quadrastate in 1991. The group's third album, ex:el, was released in 1991 and reached the top 10 of the UK album charts. The album's lead single, "Pacific State," was a top 10 hit in the UK. The group has released nine studio albums, one live album, and two compilations."
