Alphaville is a German pop music group formed in 1984, consisting of Marian Gold on vocals, Bernhard Lloyd on guitar, and Frank Mertens on keyboards. The band's first album, "Forever Young," released in 1984, was a major international success, reaching number one in Germany and the Top 10 in several countries. Their single "Big in Japan" became a worldwide hit, reaching number one in Germany, the Top 5 in France, and the Top 10 in the United Kingdom. Alphaville continued to produce successful albums and singles throughout the 1980s and 1990s, but have not regained the same level of success since.
