Aretha Franklin is an American music artist who has achieved international success. She began her career by recording gospel albums, and her first solo album, "I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You," was released in 1967. She went on to record several albums of soul and rhythm and blues, which propelled her to stardom in the genre. Furthermore, Aretha Franklin has been involved in the fight for civil rights in the United States and was named "the icon of Black pride" by Time magazine in 1968. In 1987, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2005, she was named one of the 100 greatest singers of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.
