BIOGRAPHY
Bryan Ferry is a British singer, songwriter, and music producer. He is known for being the frontman of the band Roxy Music, as well as for his solo career. Ferry has been ranked among the 100 greatest rock singers of all time by Rolling Stone magazine, and was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1999.
Ferry was born in Washington, County Durham, England. He grew up in a coal mining family. He studied at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, where he met the future members of Roxy Music. Ferry then pursued his solo career, releasing his first album in 1973. He continued to release albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s, even revisiting some of his Roxy Music hits. In 1985, he released the album Boys and Girls, which was his biggest commercial success. Ferry has continued to release albums and tour up to the present day.
Ferry is known for his eclectic music style, ranging from rock to pop, jazz, and classical music. He has also been influenced by film music and variety tunes. His unique style has led him to be compared to other artists such as David Bowie, Elton John, and Sting. Ferry has also been cited as an influence by many artists, including Brian Eno, Duran Duran, Blur, Radiohead, and Oasis.
