Code 61 was formed in 1987 by Karl Morley and Steve Young, two friends who had been making music together since their teenage years. The duo's first release was the single 'Down to the Bone', which was a minor club hit. This was followed by the release of their debut album, Code 61, in 1988. The lead single from the album, 'Drop the Deal', was a moderate success in the clubs and reached number 22 on the UK singles chart. The second single from the album, 'No Sleep', did not enjoy the same level of success, but the third single, 'So Help Me', was a minor hit.
The duo's second album, Code 61 II, was released in 1989. The lead single from the album, 'No Sleep (Remix)', was a club hit. The second single, 'So Help Me (Remix)', was also a success in the clubs. The third single, 'I Can't Help Myself', was a minor hit.
In 1990, Code 61 released their third and final album, Code 61 III. The lead single from the album, 'No Sleep (Remix)', was a success in the clubs. The second single, 'So Help Me (Remix)', was also a success in the clubs. The third single, 'I Can't Help Myself', was a minor hit.
Code 61 disbanded in 1991. Karl Morley went on to form the group The Shamen, while Steve Young became a producer and remixer."
