BIOGRAPHY
Donald Fagen is an American singer-songwriter and music producer, born in 1948 in New York, who spent his childhood in New Jersey. He studied jazz music at Bard College and began a career as a freelance musician and arranger.
It was in 1971 that he met Walter Becker, with whom he founded the rock group Steely Dan. Their success was both commercial and critical, with albums such as Can't Buy a Thrill (1972), Countdown to Ecstasy (1973) and Katy Lied (1975).
Following the dissolution of Steely Dan in 1981, Fagen embarked on a solo career, with albums such as The Nightfly (1982) and Kamakiriad (1993). He also collaborated with Becker on two albums by the duo Becker & Fagen, in 1987 and 1993.
In 2001, Fagen and Becker reunited Steely Dan, resuming their tours and recordings together until Becker's death in 2017. Fagen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 as a member of Steely Dan.
