Elaine Paige is a British singer and actress, born on March 5, 1948, in Barnet, Middlesex.
Her career began in 1966 with the role of Sarah Brown in the musical Guys and Dolls at the Old Vic Theatre in London. She then went on to appear in various West End productions, including Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, and Evita.
She achieved commercial success with her performance as Grizabella in the musical Cats in 1981. She later appeared in Chess, Sunset Boulevard, and The King and I. In 1985, Paige released her first solo album, Stage Door Johnny, which topped the UK charts.
She continued to release albums and perform in West End and Broadway productions throughout the 1990s and 2000s. In 2006, she was appointed Dame by Queen Elizabeth II for her services to music. Her latest album, Elaine Paige & Friends, was released in 2016.
