Evanescence is a American rock band from Little Rock, Arkansas. The band currently consists of lead singer Amy Lee and bassist Tim McCord. They gained international success with their second studio album, Fallen, released in 2003. The single from this album, "Bring Me to Life," reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first rock single to do so since 1998. The album has been certified double platinum in the US and seven times platinum in Australia.
The group's third studio album, The Open Door, was released in 2006 and also achieved commercial success by reaching second place on the Billboard 200. The single from the album, "Call Me When You're Sober," reached number nine on the Billboard Hot 100.
Evanescence has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards. In 2012, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Amy Lee founded Evanescence in 1995 and the band released their first studio album, Origin, in 2000. They went on to achieve great success with their album Fallen, followed by other albums such as The Open Door in 2006, Evanescence in 2011 and Synthesis in 2017. The band's music blends rock, metal, and orchestral elements to create a unique and recognizable sound.
