Evelyn Champagne King, born July 29, 1960, is an American singer of R&B, disco, and soul. She began her professional career at the age of 16 with the single "Shame", which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1977. Her second single, "I Don't Know If It's Right", reached the Top 20 of the Hot 100 and was certified gold by the RIAA.
King released her first album, Smooth Talk, in 1977, which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the RIAA. The following year, she released her second album, Get Loose, which reached the Top 20 of the Billboard 200. In 1979, King released her third album, Music Box, which reached the Top 10 of the Billboard 200.
In 1981, King released her fourth album, I'm in Love, which reached the Top 20 of the Billboard 200. The following year, she released her fifth album, So Romantic, which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200. In 1983, King released her sixth album, Call on Me, which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200. In 1985, King released her seventh album, Woman Out of Control, which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200.
In 1987, King released her eighth album, Love Come Down, which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200. In 1989, King released her ninth album, Tender Love, which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200. In 1991, King released her tenth album, Get Up Everybody, which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200. In 1993, King released her eleventh album, Think Right, which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200.
In 1995, King released her twelfth album, Let's Get Funky Tonight, which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200. In 1997, King released her thirteenth album, One Night Only, which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200. In 1999, King released her fourteenth album, A Long Time Coming, which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200. In 2001, King released her fifteenth album, I'm Still in Love, which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200.
In 2003, King released her sixteenth album, Here I Am, which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200. In 2005, King released her seventeenth album, So Many Ways, which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200.
