JEAN PIERRE MADER

BIOGRAPHY

Jean-Pierre Mader is a French-German singer, songwriter, and producer, born on June 6, 1966, in Sarreguemines, Moselle. He grew up in Sarrelouis and then Metz. At the age of 18, he went to study music in Berlin. In 1987, he founded the German band Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft (DAF), with which he achieved international success with the albums Alles ist gut (1981) and Gold und Liebe (1982). In 1988, he left the group and began a solo career with the album Solitude des nombres premiers, which brought him critical success. He then released several solo albums and collaborations, including L'État des choses (1992) with the French group Les Négresses Vertes, and Utopie d'océan (1995) with German singer Marius Müller-Westernhagen. After several years of silence, he returned in 2006 with the album Tout est permis, followed by the album La vie est un long chemin in 2009. Jean-Pierre Mader is now considered one of the most important franco-German singers of his generation.
