Jaki Graham is a British soul and pop singer, born on September 18, 1956, in Birmingham. She found international success in the 1980s with hits such as "Set Me Free", "Round and Round", and "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love". She also recorded an album with the group M-People in 1994. Raised in the Handsworth area of Birmingham, Graham attended primary school and college before studying fashion at university. She then pursued a career in modeling and later worked as a production assistant for the BBC before focusing on her musical career. In 1982, she signed with EMI and released her first single, "Round and Round", which peaked at number six on the UK charts. Her debut album, Jaki Graham, was released in 1983 and was a commercial success, reaching number four on the UK charts. She subsequently released two more albums, From Now On (1985) and Real Life (1987), before leaving EMI in 1989. After leaving EMI, Graham released two independent albums, Breaking Away (1991) and The Best of Jaki Graham (1993), before joining M-People in 1994. She recorded an album with them, The Best of M-People, before leaving the group in 1995. Graham resumed her solo career and released two albums, Ruthless (1996) and My Soul (1998). She then took a break from the music scene before making an appearance in the film The Best Man (1999). She released an album in 2002, Looking Back, before retiring from the music industry. In 2015, she made an appearance in the film The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Graham currently resides in London with her husband, music producer Steve Graham. They have two children together.
