"Jean-Louis Murat (born January 28, 1952 in Lavaur, Tarn) is a French singer, songwriter, musician, and actor. He has released thirteen studio albums and ten live albums, as well as appearing in over twenty films.
Murat began his career in the 1970s as a guitarist for the rock group Les Hauts-Parleurs. In the 1980s, he embarked on a solo career, releasing his first album, Joli Bébé, in 1984. His fourth album, Cheyenne Autumn, was released in 1988 and was his first album to chart in France, reaching forty-ninth place on the Top Albums chart. Murat's sixth album, Mustango, was released in 1991 and reached thirty-fourth place on the Top Albums chart.
Murat continued to release albums throughout the 1990s and 2000s, with his most recent album, Le poète et la bête, released in 2010. He has also appeared in several films, including The Return of Martin Guerre (1982), The Big Blue (1988) and The Fifth Element (1997)."
