BIOGRAPHY
Journey is an American rock band from San Francisco, California, that gained notable and enduring success in the 1980s and remains active to this day. They have sold over 100 million records worldwide and have had 19 songs reach the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100.
Formed in 1973 by guitarist Neal Schon and bassist Ross Valory, both of whom were previously in the band Santana, Journey quickly garnered attention with singer Gregg Rolie, drummer Aynsley Dunbar, and guitarist George Tickner. Signed to Columbia Records, the band released their self-titled debut album in 1975, followed by Look into the Future in 1976 and Next in 1977.
In 1978, the album Infinity propelled the band to the top of the Billboard 200, fueled by the hit "Wheel in the Sky". Evolution, released in 1979, was also a major success, driven by the single "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'".
The arrival of lead singer Steve Perry in 1980 marked a turning point for Journey. The albums Departure in 1980 and Captured in 1981 confirmed the band's success, particularly with the single "Any Way You Want It".
Frontiers in 1983 and Raised on Radio in 1986 maintained Journey's popularity, before the album Trial by Fire in 1996 reached number 3 on the Billboard 200.
Subsequent albums, such as Arrival in 2001, Generations in 2005, Eclipse in 2011, and Infinity in 2013, continue to position the band among the greats of rock.
