Kansas is an American rock band hailing from Topeka, Kansas. The group was formed in 1973 by guitarists Kerry Livgren and Rich Williams, bassist Dave Hope, drummer Phil Ehart, and singer Steve Walsh. They experienced significant commercial success in the 1970s and 1980s with hits such as "Carry on Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind".
The band ranked 43rd in VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock in 2003. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
