Lisa Stansfield is a British singer born on April 11, 1966, in Manchester. She is known for her melodic soul style and popular songs like "All Around the World" and "The Real Thing". Stansfield started her musical career in Manchester clubs before signing with Arista Records in 1987. Her first album, Affection (1989), sold over eight million copies worldwide and was certified seven times platinum in the UK. The album spawned several hit singles such as "All Around the World", "This Is the Right Time", and "What Did I Do to You?". In 1991, Stansfield played the role of Sarah Connor in the science fiction film Terminator 2: Judgment Day. She later released two more albums, Real Love (1991) and So Natural (1993), both of which were certified platinum in the UK. After a break in her musical career, Stansfield returned in 1998 with the album Lisa Stansfield. She has continued to record and tour since. In 2019, Stansfield was inducted into the North West England Hall of Fame.
