Mecano

BIOGRAPHY

"Mecano was a Spanish pop group formed in 1981 and active until 1992. The band was founded by Nacho Cano (bass, keyboards, and vocals), Ana Torroja (vocals and guitar), and José María Cano (guitar and keyboards). The group's first album, Mecano, was released in 1982 and was a commercial failure. The following year, the group released a second album, Ana, which was a huge success in Spain and launched the band's career. Mecano went on to release six more albums over the next decade, all of which were extremely successful in Spain. The band's final album, Descanso Dominical, was released in 1992 and was their most successful internationally. Mecano's music is a mix of pop, rock, and synth-pop. Their lyrics often have political themes and address social issues such as feminism, homophobia, and racism. Mecano was one of the most successful pop groups of the 1980s and 1990s in Spain. They sold over 15 million records worldwide and had many successful singles, including "Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar", "Me Cuesta Tanto Olvidarte", and "Muévete En Mi"."
