Michel Polnareff is a French singer, songwriter, composer, performer, and music producer born on July 3, 1944 in Nérac. He achieved international success in the 1960s and 1970s with several of his songs, including "La Poupée qui fait non", "Love Me, Please Love Me", "Goodbye Marylou", and "L'Homme en bleu". His songs have been covered by numerous artists, including Françoise Hardy, Johnny Hallyday, David Bowie, Elton John, Sting, and Robbie Williams. Polnareff was named "Artist of the Year" at the Victoires de la Musique in 2016. Michel Polnareff was born on July 3, 1944 in Nérac, in the Lot-et-Garonne region of France. He is the son of Simone (née Jourdan) and Léon Polnareff. His family originated from Russia and Poland. Polnareff grew up in the Marais district of Paris and was raised by his mother following his parents' divorce when he was five years old. He began his music career playing guitar in Parisian jazz clubs in the 1960s. In 1964, he was discovered by producer and composer Vianney Lebasque, who helped him sign a record deal with Disques Vogue. Polnareff went on to record several songs that found success in France, including "La Poupée qui fait non" and "Love Me, Please Love Me". In 1966, he represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest with his song "L'amour avec toi", but did not place in the top three. In 1968, Polnareff released his self-titled album, Michel Polnareff, which reached the top of the charts in France. The album was certified gold in France. In 1970, he released his second album, Love Me, Please Love Me, which was certified platinum in France. In 1971, he released his third album, Polnareff's Back, which was certified platinum in France. In 1972, he released his fourth album, Kawasaki Rose, which was certified gold in France. In 1973, he released his fifth album, Tous les bateaux, tous les oiseaux, which was certified platinum in France. In 1975, he released his sixth album, Kâma-Sûtra, which was certified platinum in France. In 1976, he released his seventh album, Ring a Ding Ding, which was certified platinum in France. In 1977, he released his eighth album, Bull's Eye, which was certified platinum in France. In 1979, he released his ninth album, Droit dans le soleil, which was certified platinum in France.
