Monte Kristo is a French duo of synthetic music, composed of Richard Sheppard and Xavier Marin. Their first album, The Girl of Lucifer, released in 1984, had some success in France and Europe, thanks to the singles "The Girl of Lucifer" and "The Wanderer". Their second album, Some Like It Hot, released in 1985, was even more popular, thanks to the singles "Some Like It Hot", "Lady Valentine" and "Stay". The duo split up in 1986, after the release of their third album, Escape from Hell, but reformed in 2000 for a tour in France.
