BIOGRAPHY
Neneh Cherry (born Neneh Mariann Karlsson on March 10, 1964) is a Swedish-born British singer-songwriter, producer, and DJ. She achieved international recognition with her debut single "Buffalo Stance" in 1988, taken from her first album Raw Like Sushi.
Cherry grew up between Sweden and the UK. She started her music career in the punk rock band The Slits before embarking on a solo career with diverse musical influences ranging from hip-hop to jazz. Her second album Homebrew (1992) reached the top 10 in the UK and was certified gold. Her third album Man (1996) was certified platinum in the UK.
Cherry has also collaborated with many artists, including David Bowie, Youssou N'Dour, The Orb, Booga Bear, The Pretenders, RocketNumberNine, The Thing, CirKus, Blur, Gorillaz, and Tricky. She has released five solo studio albums throughout her career, with the latest being Blank Project in 2014. She has also released a collaborative album with her husband, electronic music producer Cameron McVey, titled Broken Politics, in 2018.
