BIOGRAPHY
"Nina Simone was an American singer-songwriter, pianist, and singer, considered one of the greatest artists of music in the 20th century. Born into a poor family in the South of the United States, she studied classical piano at the conservatory before being expelled for refusing to play works by white composers. She began performing in jazz clubs in New York in the 1950s. Her repertoire, influenced by jazz, blues, and classical music, includes hits such as 'I Loves You, Porgy' and 'My Baby Just Cares for Me', as well as politically engaged songs like 'Mississippi Goddam' and 'To Be Young, Gifted and Black'. She moved to Europe in the 1970s and passed away in 2003 at the age of 70."
