BIOGRAPHY
Prefab Sprout is a pop-rock band from Newcastle, England, formed in 1978 by Paddy McAloon (singer/guitarist/songwriter) and Wendy Smith (singer/keyboardist). The group experienced limited commercial success but was critically acclaimed and influenced many artists.
The band has released a total of eight studio albums, with the latest being "Crimson/Red" in 2009. Their debut album, "Swoon," was released in 1984 and peaked at number 8 in the UK. Their second album, "Steve McQueen," was released in 1985 and peaked at number 3 in the UK. Their third album, "From Langley Park to Memphis," was released in 1988 and peaked at number 2 in the UK.
The band disbanded in 1993 but reunited in 2001. In 2007, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
