"Ray Parker Jr. is an American singer, musician, songwriter, and guitarist, born on May 1, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan. He gained recognition for composing the music for the film Ghostbusters in 1984. Parker spent his childhood in Detroit and began his musical career playing guitar in various rhythm and blues bands in the city's clubs. In 1973, he joined the funk group The Honey Drippers, which achieved worldwide success with the single "Impeach the President." Subsequently, Parker embarked on a solo career and released his self-titled debut album in 1977. His second album, The Other Woman, featured the hit "Jack and Jill," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 1982. In 1984, Parker composed the music for Ghostbusters, which became one of his biggest hits. He also released the album Woman Out of Control the same year, which included the title "Ghostbusters." Parker continued to release albums and singles throughout the 1980s and 1990s but did not achieve the same level of success as at the beginning of his career. However, he continued to perform music and make occasional television and film appearances. Parker was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame in 2006."
