BIOGRAPHY
Robin Zander was born on January 23, 1953, in his hometown of Rockford, Illinois. He is an American musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Cheap Trick.
Zander began his musical career in his hometown of Rockford, Illinois, by playing in local bands before forming Cheap Trick in 1974. The band found great success in Japan and the United States with the release of their first album, Cheap Trick (1977), which included the singles "I Want You to Want Me" and "Surrender". The band's following three albums, Heaven Tonight (1978), At Budokan (1979) and Dream Police (1979), were also successful, and the singles "Ain't That a Shame", "The Flame" and "Dream Police" became radio classics.
The band's next album, All Shook Up (1980), was less well received, but the group bounced back with the release of One on One (1982), which included the hit single "If You Want My Love". The band's following album, Lap of Luxury (1988), was their most successful to date, reaching the top of the Billboard 200 chart.
