The Romantics were a rock band from Detroit, Michigan, USA, formed in 1977. The original lineup of the band consisted of lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Wally Palmar, lead guitarist Mike Skill, bassist Brad Elvis, and drummer Jimmy Marinos. The band is best known for their 1980 hit "What I Like About You". The band's first concert was as an opening act for the New MC5 in 1977. They released their self-titled debut album in 1980, produced by Jack Douglas, known for his work with the New York Dolls and Aerosmith. The album was recorded at Power Station in New York and was released on Nemperor Records. The first single, "What I Like About You", was released in February 1980 and reached number 49 on the Billboard Hot 100. The second single, "Tell It to Carrie", was released in June 1980 and reached number 84 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band's second album, National Breakout, was released in 1981 with the singles "A Night Like This" and "Talking in Your Sleep". Their third album, In Heat, was released in 1983 with the singles "One in a Million" and "Cutting Loose". The band's fourth album, Rhythm Romance, was released in 1985 with the singles "Rock You Up" and "Test of Time". The fifth album, 61/49, was released in 1987 with the singles "One More Chance" and "Can't Stop This Thing We Started". The sixth album, Made in Detroit, was released in 1991 with the singles "Walking in the Street" and "Back to You". The seventh album, Atomic, was released in 1993 with the singles "Jenny 867-5309" and "Goodbye to You". The eighth album, Love Songs, was released in 2001 with the singles "Stuck in Love" and "One in a Million".
