Sharon Redd is an American R&B, disco, and dance singer, born on October 8, 1953, in New York.
Redd began her musical career as a backup singer for artists such as Bette Midler, Barry Manilow, and Donna Summer. In 1977, she released her first single, "In the Name of Love," which reached fourth place on the Billboard Hot 100. Her second single, "Can You Handle It," reached eighth place on the Hot 100. In 1978, she released her first album, Love How You Feel, which reached number 49 on the Billboard 200. In 1979, she released her second album, Never Give You Up, which reached number 70 on the Billboard 200. In 1980, she released her third album, Sharon Redd, which reached number 44 on the Billboard 200. In 1981, she released her fourth album, Redd Hott, which did not make it to the Billboard 200.
Redd continued to release albums and singles throughout the 1980s and 1990s, but none of her albums made it to the Billboard 200. In 2000, she released her last album, The Very Best of Sharon Redd.
