BIOGRAPHY
The Style Council was a British group formed in 1983 by Paul Weller, formerly the singer, songwriter, and guitarist of punk rock / new wave / mod revival band The Jam, and keyboardist Mick Talbot, previously of Dexys Midnight Runners. The group allowed Weller to take a more soulful direction with his music. The core formation expanded to include steady drummer Steve White and renowned jazz bassist Dee C. Lee. Other artists, such as singer Tracie Young and saxophonist Gary Crowley, were also involved with the group at various times.
