BIOGRAPHY
"Taxi Girl was a French new wave band formed in 1977 by lead singer and bassist Daniel Darc. Their musical style blended punk rock, new wave, and synth-pop with Darc's distinctive high-pitched vocals. They were one of the first French bands to achieve success in the English-speaking world, partly due to their single 'Cherchez le garçon', which was a hit in the UK in 1980.
The band's lineup changed several times over the years, with Darc being the only constant member. They released four studio albums between 1979 and 1985, all of which received critical acclaim. However, commercial success eluded them and they disbanded in 1986.
Darc went on to have a solo career, releasing several albums between 1987 and 2006. He passed away from a heart attack in 2013.
Taxi Girl was one of the most innovative and influential bands of the French new wave movement. Their music was ahead of its time, and their use of synthesizers and drum machines was particularly innovative. They were also one of the first French bands to achieve success in the English-speaking world, partly due to their single 'Cherchez le garçon'."
