The Belle Stars

BIOGRAPHY

The Belle Stars were an all-female pop group formed in London in 1980. The group consisted of four former members of the Bodysnatchers (Deborah Blyth, Miranda Joyce, Sarah-Jane Owen, and Stella Barker) and two additional musicians (Hannah Robinson and Jane Wiedlin). The Belle Stars signed with Epic Records in 1981 and released their first single, "Iko Iko," in 1982. The single experienced minor success in the UK, reaching number 45 on the UK Singles Chart. The group's second single, "Sign of the Times," was released in 1983 and reached number 11 on the British chart. The Belle Stars' third and final single, "The Clapping Song," was released in 1984 and reached number 12 on the British chart. The group disbanded in 1985.
