BIOGRAPHY
The Romantics are an American rock band from Grosse Pointe, Michigan. They were founded in 1977 by guitarist and singer Wally Palmar, bassist Mike Skill, and drummer Jimmy Marinos, with guitarist and singer Rich Cole joining later.
The band found success with their self-titled debut album released in 1980, which includes their biggest hit, "What I Like About You". They went on to record three more albums, National Breakout (1981), In Heat (1983) and Rhythm Romance (1985), before disbanding in 1987. The group has since reunited and continues to tour and record new songs.
The Romantics were influenced by new wave and punk rock of the 1970s, with their music characterized by energetic guitars, catchy rhythms, and memorable melodies. They have been compared to bands such as The Cars, Cheap Trick and The Knack.
