"Afrika Bambaataa is a pioneer of hip-hop and the founder of the Universal Zulu Nation. He is best known for his 1982 hit "Planet Rock."
Born in the Bronx, New York in 1957, Afrika Bambaataa was exposed to a variety of music genres such as soul, funk, and disco. He began DJing in the 1970s and quickly became an iconic figure of the Bronx hip-hop scene. In 1977, he founded the Universal Zulu Nation, an organization that promotes peace, unity, and respect for all.
In 1982, Afrika Bambaataa released "Planet Rock," a track that blended elements of electro-funk and hip-hop. The song became a global hit and is considered one of the most influential hip-hop tracks of all time.
Throughout his career, Afrika Bambaataa has released several other albums, including "Death Mix" in 1980, "Renegades of Funk" in 1984, and "Planet Rock: The Album" in 1986. He has also collaborated with numerous artists, including James Brown, Chuck D, and Ice Cube.
In 2012, Afrika Bambaataa was inducted into the Bronx Walk of Fame."
