BIOGRAPHY
Grace Jones is a Jamaican singer, model, and actress born on May 19, 1948, in Spanish Town, Jamaica. Raised in a religious family, Jones developed an interest in music and fashion from a young age. She was discovered by singer and reggae producer Lee "Scratch" Perry, who helped her launch her musical career. Jones then signed with Island Records, where she released several successful albums, including Portfolio (1977), Warm Leatherette (1980), and Nightclubbing (1981).
In addition to her musical career, Jones has also found success as a model and actress. She has appeared in films such as Conan the Destroyer (1984) with Arnold Schwarzenegger and A View to a Kill (1985) with Roger Moore. Jones was also one of the first black women to be featured in Vogue magazine and was named "Sexiest Woman of the Year" by Playboy magazine in 1986.
Today, Jones continues to make music and perform live. She released an album in 2008, Hurricane, and recently completed a world tour to celebrate her 70th birthday. Jones is considered a fashion and music icon, known for her bold and provocative style.
