She began her career in 2007 as a member of the Cube Entertainment girl group, 4minute. In 2016, she left the group to focus on her solo career. In 2017, Loona made her solo debut with the mini-album Love & Live, followed by her first full-length studio album, + +, in 2018. In 2019, she made her Japanese debut with the album Over The Rainbow.
