He began his musical career playing the trumpet in a jazz orchestra before turning to electronic music in the 2000s. Arnej has released several albums and has been nominated for numerous awards, including the Grammy Award for Best Electronic Music Album in 2013. In 2010, he founded his own music production company, Arnej Music, and has collaborated with renowned artists such as Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond, and Markus Schulz. In 2013, he was ranked as the number one most influential DJ in the world by DJ Magazine.
