Nate Ruess is an American singer, songwriter, and musician, born on February 26, 1982, in Iowa City, Iowa. He was raised in Mesa, Arizona. Nate began his musical career as the lead singer of the indie rock band The Format. The band released two albums before disbanding in 2008. Nate then became the lead singer of the band Fun., with whom he released two albums, Aim and Ignite (2009) and Some Nights (2012). The band's second album, Some Nights, reached number one on the Billboard 200 and was certified double platinum in the US. The band also won two Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist. Nate released his first solo album, Grand Romantic, in 2015.
