Naughty Boy, whose real name is Shahid Khan, is a British producer, songwriter, and DJ born on October 1, 1985, in Watford, Hertfordshire. He is best known for producing and co-writing the single "Wonder" by singer Emeli Sandé, as well as producing the song "La La La" by Sam Smith, which reached number one on the UK Singles Chart. Naughty Boy grew up in a traditional Pakistani household in Watford and was raised by his mother after his parents' divorce when he was a child. He attended Parmiter's School in Watford. After graduating, he worked various jobs, including in a supermarket and as a DJ in clubs. In 2006, he began producing music at home using production software such as Fruity Loops and Reason. He later sent demos to various music labels but was rejected. In 2009, he met Emeli Sandé at a concert in London. The two began working together and signed a management contract with Black Butter Records in 2011. Sandé's single "Wonder," produced and co-written by Naughty Boy, was released in 2012 and reached number two on the UK Singles Chart. The success of the single allowed Naughty Boy to sign a production contract with Virgin EMI Records. In 2013, he released his first single as a solo artist, "La La La," featuring Sam Smith. The song reached number one on the UK Singles Chart and was certified platinum in 2014. In 2014, Naughty Boy released his first studio album, Hotel Cabana. The album, which was certified gold in the UK, reached number two on the UK Albums Chart. He was also nominated for two Grammy Awards, including for Best Dance/Electronica Album. In 2016, Naughty Boy released his second studio album, The Wonderful World of Naughty Boy. The album reached number five on the UK Albums Chart. Naughty Boy is also known for working with numerous other artists, including Beyoncé, Cheryl Cole, Kylie Minogue, Rita Ora, Rihanna, and Wiz Khalifa.
