BIOGRAPHY
Sonny Banks was an American singer and songwriter. He was born in Mobile, Alabama, and grew up in Chicago, Illinois. Banks began his career as a member of the doo-wop group the Flamingos, and later wrote and recorded with the group as a solo artist. He also wrote and recorded with other artists, including the Temptations, the Four Tops, and the Supremes. Banks' greatest success as a solo artist was "I Wonder Why", which reached the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 in 1964. He continued to record and perform until his death in 2006.
