BIOGRAPHY
Steve Roberts is an electronic music artist, born on March 18, 1966, in London, England. He was a member of the new wave band The B-52's and also worked with Talking Heads and Devo. He then pursued a solo career with his group The Nellee Hooper Group.
Roberts grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and studied music at Georgia State University. In 1977, he joined the new wave band The B-52's as a bassist and singer. He played with the band until 1985, when he decided to embark on a solo career. Roberts then collaborated with producer Nellee Hooper to form the group The Nellee Hooper Group, which released an album titled "Bass, Sweat & Tears" in 1988. As a solo artist, he released the albums "The Heat" (1989) and "Life" (1991).
In 1995, Roberts joined the rock band Talking Heads as a bassist and singer, staying with them until 2001, when the band disbanded. He then joined the rock band Devo as a bassist and singer, remaining with them until 2006 before focusing again on his solo career. Two more solo albums were released: "Electronic Music for the Mind" (2007) and "The Future of Rock and Roll" (2009).
In 2012, Roberts rejoined the band Talking Heads as a bassist and singer, playing with them until 2016, when the band disbanded. He then released a new solo album, "The Future of Rock and Roll", in 2017.
