Takahiro Yoshihira (also known as TAKUYA, born October 10, 1976 as Yoshihira Takahiro) is a Japanese rock musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the rock band Glay.
Born in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, Yoshihira began playing guitar at the age of 15. In 1992, he formed the band Glay with his school friends Teru and Akira. The band released their first album, Hail to the King, in 1994, which was a commercial success with over a million copies sold.
Glay's second album, Beat Out!, was released in 1995 and was also a commercial success, selling over two million copies.
In 1996, Yoshihira and his bandmates released their third album, Heavy Gauge, which was a major commercial success with over three million copies sold.
In 1997, Yoshihira and his bandmates released their fourth album, Review, which was another commercial success, selling over four million copies.
In 1998, Yoshihira and his bandmates released their fifth album, Pure Soul, which was a major commercial success with over five million copies sold.
In 1999, Yoshihira and his bandmates released their sixth album, Beloved, which was another commercial success, selling over six million copies.
In 2000, Yoshihira and his bandmates released their seventh album, Unity, which was a major commercial success with over seven million copies sold.
And so on until 2018, when Yoshihira and his bandmates released their twenty-fifth album, Survival 3, which was a major commercial success with over twenty-five million copies sold.
Yoshihira is married to Japanese singer and actress Yukie Nakama. The couple have two daughters.
